In Literary circle during Korean liberartion era, a new critic Kim Dong-Seok was understood as a controversary pioneer of left literary theorists, or as just a critic who has criticism of liberal sentences and malicios tongue.
After his personal profile was revealed in 1990’s, his articles in “Art and Life(예술과 생활)”, “Human figure of bourgeois(부르조아의 인간상)” were focused as a touchstone of transformative nature of literary circle during Korean liberartion era.
He critisized pure literature theory of Kim Dong-ri lacking of reality consciousness and abstract idealism of humanism. As he showed his interest in Korean national issues during 1946∼1948, he searched for the future of natioanl lieterature.
So in his regards, the substance of reality required in those era was a subjective and confessive language in prosal verse seen like Oh Jang-Hwan‘s poems, or reality cognition of real spot of people’s life seen like Lee Yong-Ak’s poems.
In brief, Kim Dong-Seok’s criticism was a declaration of nationalist literature which should exist in Korean unification. So he rejected intellectual and negative approaches of reality, and rather pursuit affirnmative prospectives and practice of people.
