The purpose of this research was to study the importance of employees" personalities in travel industry and how they play the important roles regarding customer orientation and job performance, thus suggest the practical implications to the management level regarding human resource. The research would utilize " five-factor model" in order to prove the interrelationship between the employees" organizational commitment, customer orientation and job performance. For research purpose, a total of 202 questionnaire samples were collected from the employees in travel industry that located in Seoul, then analyzed the interrelationship between the personalties of employees, organizational commitment, customer orientation and job performance. By employing the analysis on primary factor, the types of personalities were categorized into five different factors which include, ‘agreeableness’, ‘conscientiousness’, ‘extraversion’, ‘neuroticism’ and ‘openness to experience’.
The research findings were as follows. Firstly, as a result of hypothesis verification, ‘agreeableness’, ‘conscientious’ and ‘neuroticism’ had a noticeable effect on organizational commitment. Secondly, ‘agreeableness’ and ‘conscientiousness’ had a positive effect on customer orientation. Moreover, organizational commitment had a positive effect on customer orientation. Lastly, both organizational commitment and customer orientation had a positive effect on job performance.
