Report Errors
The purpose of this study is to examine the main issues and keywords related to the publicness of early childhood education by periods of policy changes by analyzing Big data of media coverage on each period of early childhood education policy from 1993 to 2019. This study analyzed 3,084 articles related to the publicness of early childhood education published by 25 major media organizations from January, 1993 to May, 2019 using topic modeling method. The results are as Firstly, The public interest in early childhood education was somewhat low over the course of the period. In 2018, after the announcement of the results of the kindergarten audit, interest in the public nature of early childhood education increased sharply. Second, The policy of strengthening public education is a measure to strengthen the public nature of early childhood education that the government has been promoting for a long time, and implementation of policies to secure the publicity of private kindergartens is required. In summary, this study confirms immediate need for means to respond to the increased social interest and demand for the establishment of the publicness of early childhood education. And, It provided the basis for information necessary for policy development and field application to ensure the public nature of early childhood education in government agencies and the like.
