The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of early childhood teachers’ playfulness and play-teaching efficacy on the core competencies of early childhood teachers, and to provide basic data for strengthening the core competencies of them. A questionnaire survey was conducted for 242 kindergarten and daycare teachers located in B city, and data processing was performed by descriptive statistics, Pearson’s product-moment correlation analysis, and stepwise standard regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows: First, looking at the general tendency, early childhood teachers’ playfulness, play-teaching efficacy, and early childhood teachers’ core competencies were all higher than the average. Second, the relationship between early childhood teacher’s playfulness, play-teaching efficacy, and core competencies was found to be highly related to each variable. Third, it suggested that playfulness and play-teaching efficacy had a high influence of 52.2% on the core competencies of early childhood teachers. Therefore, it was discussed that the playfulness of early childhood teachers and the sense of efficacy of play-teaching are the main variables that influence the core competencies of early childhood teachers.
