Report Errors
This study examines what affects the determinant of lease types (Jeonse or monthly rent) of Korean households. We employ the binary logistic regression to investigate the analysis in terms of the household, asset and income information using the Survey of Korean Household Finance and Welfare, in 2017 and 2019. We find that the lack of lease deposits significantly affect the choice of staying in monthly rent (not converting into Jeonse). Also, we find that the households who convert from Jeonse to monthly rent have significantly less lease deposits, lack of savings and less earned income. The results imply that households with less financial ability in terms of assets and incomes considerably results in staying in monthly rents as a lease type in South Korea.
