The purpose of this study is to explore ways to apply the individual's moral roles and abilities explained in Rawls's 『Theory of Justice』 to the moral education curriculum. In the current moral education curriculum, Rawls's theory of justice is focused on the original position and the principles of justice. However, in 『Theory of Justice』, in addition to the process of deriving the principles of justice, Rawls emphasizes the responsibilities and duties that members of an well-ordered society must have, as well as a capacity for a sense of justice and a capacity for a conception of the good. A well-ordered society he envisions is not a society that enjoys only rights and benefits arising from the principles of justice, but a society that requires the moral roles and abilities of its members to maintain it stably. Accordingly, this study argues that the moral education curriculum, especially the unit dealing with Rawls's theory of justice in middle school moral education curriculum that emphasizes the role of community members, should include content about the roles and abilities that members of a well-ordered society should have.
