This thesis has contrasted and analyzed the factual aspects and characteristics about between Hwang-booin jeon and Parkssi-jeon. Following is the summary about what was mentioned above.
Hwangbooin-jeon, Korean Classical novel, has not been known about th autho and period, Its manuscript with the title of Hwangseosa-jeon has been kept in the National Library of Korea. In addition, its Hwaljabon with the title of Hwangbooin-jeon has been published by Youngchang-cheogwan, Hanheongseorim, and Sechangseogwan. I mainly targeted at the book of Hwangbooin-jeon printed by Sechangseog wan as a main text because it tells the stories as much in detail as possible and it has been the most widely used for preliminary study.
Parkssi-ieon has two personas, Lee, si-back and his wife who lived when Byeongjahoran took place. The historical background of the story is dominated by the war (Byeongjahoran) between Chosun Dynasty and Cheong in 1636. This thesis is primarily aimed at old Hwaljabon of Hwangbooin-jeon printed by Deokheongseorimpan.
Hwangbooin-jeon was adapted from very little some part of the enormous volume of Samgugjiyeonhui. To find out the factual aspects and characteristics about Hwangbooin-jeon, it was thoroughly viewed in four different ways : birth, alliance, modification, and conjuration.
With the set of Choseon Dynasty, Parkssi-jeon was written under the background of severe discrimination between men and women. Women was not recognized as a independent identity not only at home but also in the society around the titre. It was very natural for women to sacrifice themselves for their family. However, the awareness of women started to develop through the two wars, Imjinwaeran (1592~1598) and Byeongjahoran (1636). The effects of the two wars on the society were the sources for creating Parkssi-jeon. This thesis shows how the story went on and the analyzed facts in different areas of birth, alliance, modification, and conjuration.
If Hwangbooin-jeon and Parkssi-jeon are compared in terms of stories, figures of agonist, characters, modification, and conjuration, it is possible to know that their stories are similar to each other. The contrastive analysis between Hwangbooin-jeon and Parkssi-jeon may be concluded that the two works had in common and Parkssi-jeon was influenced by Hwangbooin-jeon.
Some areas still lack of detailed research and need to be studied more. First, contrastive analysis is needed for how women's awareness was different between Hwangbooin-jeon and Parkssi-jeon in the viewpoint of feminism Second, it is demanded the necessity of systematic research about the two works each. Last, we still have the task about how the relationship between men and women impacted on modem society with the comparison of other stories.
