This study aims to compare SNS(Social Network Service) users and non-users in terms of demographics(gender, age, education, income), personality traits(Big Five), offline activities(social, political), political orientations(interest, ideological orientation, voting behavior), and life satisfaction(self, relationship, ingroup satisfaction). Further, this study categorized SNS users into three groups(Facebook, Twitter, & Kakao Story users) based on usage preferences, and examined how these groups diverged by the predictors presented above. Media Panel data of 2012 and 2013 from Korea Information Society Development Institute(KISDI) were analyzed using a series of logistic regressions. The results indicated that demographic was the most powerful predictor for explaining users from non-users as well as differentiating three user groups one another. Furthermore, SNS users were more likely to be open to experiences, engaged in offline social and political activities, interested in politics, and satisfied with their own ingroups than non-users were. Last, the findings for predicting different user groups show that Twitter users were more conscientious and satisfied with themselves; Facebook users were more engaged in offline social activities as well as more satisfied with relationships with others; surprisingly, Kakao Story users turned out to be more liberal, if other things are equal.
