Qijianshisanxia(七劍十三俠) is a long novel of the Qing Dynasty, a fantastic hero narrative, to combat the treacherous retainers and the wicked in cooperation with the fantastic characters in overcoming the disaster of the nation. First of all, I visit the Library of the Chinese Shanghai Fudan University, Donga University, Korea University, Sungkyunkwan University, and Chonnam National University where the rare edition is located, tried to examine the situation of the version specifically. The edition of the Shanghaishuju is owned by Fudan University and Korea University. The Fudan University collection is the oldest surviving version, The Korea University Collection was later published. Both the Fudan and the Korea University collections are relatively well preserved. The Fudan University collection is the title and part of it are damaged and the letters are blurred, I was able to review the situation of the version roughly. Korea University collections did not have enough library bibliographies, so it was not expected to be good, Surprisingly, both the print and collection status were good and publication history was accurately stamped, which was a great help in conducting the research. Despite the difference of the publishing company, the Donga University collections have the same form in the case of Korea University, perhaps they were published at similar times. The collections of Chonnam National University and Sungkyunkwan University are in large letters, very easy to read and proofreading, it is difficult to estimate the exact year of publication because the period of time is not clear, judged to be the same version. As a whole, it seems that all of the Korean collections except for Gansong-mungo collection are in good condition. The narrative of the work embraces fantasy and reality, it is proceeding in the direction of protecting the kingship by the union of the civil hero and the fantastic hero. Civilian heroes, including 12 heroes(Xuminggao, Jiaodafeng, Luojifang, Yizhimei, etc.) and female heroes (Sundanang, Wangfenggu, etc.), symbolize reality. Qizishisansheng(七子十三生) are fantastic heroes who symbolize Taoist fantasy. These are the guardians who keep the Confucian order centered on the emperor by sweeping the rebels and thieves who threaten the kingship. All civilian heroes have human shortcomings, but They are showing a great deal of sincerity for the emperor. Fantastic heroes also pay tribute to the emperor, it reveals the superiority of the Confucian order. Therefore, the narrative about the civilian heroes and the fantastic heroes is a way to solidify the actual system at the time, it can also be seen as part of image making to emphasize the ‘loyalty’ code to stabilize the kingship.
