This paper discusses ‘emotion’ reproduced in the novels of the 1960s from the viewpoint of literature and sociology. In the meantime, it is true that emotions have been perceived as personal or irrational. However, emotions are very exceptional and at the same time subjective in that they can be created by the social atmosphere or by someone’s intentions.
In the 1960s, symbolized by 4.19 and 5.16, the subjects are faced with the question of whether to accept or reject the social conditions of the arrival of violent capitalist modernity, and they are confronted with emotional issues before any rational thought process. In this process, I feel the temptation to escape the uncertainty of identity by accepting reality uncritically, and the fear of symbolic death that I will face when I reject it.
Complex feelings such as helplessness, fear, and guilt in this novel can be attributed to the complicated emotions of the subject, who could not equate himself to any discourse in the flow of capitalist modernity. It suggests that a careful review of the various sociological factors that shape the emotions of the subject in the 1960s, rather than just a fixed view that society is creating and stimulating certain emotions. In this regard, the characteristics of this period novel, which faithfully reproduces the social character of the group in the interaction between the emotional structure and the actual experience, and simultaneously depicts the emerging emotions of the residual form and the creative type The study of literature and sociology seems to be a meaningful work that can expand the field of novel research in the 1960s.

이 시기 소설에 등장하는 무기력, 공포, 죄의식 같은 댜양한 감정들은 근대 자본주의의 흐름 속에서 어떤 사회구조에도 섣불리 자신을 동일화 할 수 없었던 당대 주체의 복잡한 감정구조에서 나온 결과라고 할 수 있다. 그것은 단순히 사회가 특정한 감정을 만들어내고 자극한다고 보는 고정된 관점에서가 아니라, 1960년대 주체의 감정구조를 형성하는 다양한 사회학적 요소에 관한 면밀한 검토의 필요성을 말해 준다.
이런 점에 비춰볼 때, 감정구조와 실제 경험 사이의 상호작용 속에서 집단의 사회적 성격을 충실히 재생산함하고 동시에 잔여적 형태의 감정과 창조적 유형의 부상하는 감정을 함께 묘사하고 있는 1960년대 소설의 특징을 문학사회학적으로 탐사하는 일은 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 결국 1960년대 소설에 재현된 주체는 어떤 한계 상황에서 자신의 의지를 통해 독자적이면서 상호작용적인 실천을 감행하거나, 힘의 역학 관계에서 피동적이고 객체화된 존재가 되면서 당대 사회 및 공동체와 관계하며 맺는 독특한 감정구조를 드러내고 있는 것이다.
