The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of exercise time on body composition and dietary intake. The subjects were 20 women whose body-fat rate was more than 30 percent among 300 people who registered in cultural facilities in the metropolitan area. The subjects were separated into a forenoon exercise group and an afternoon exercise group. They exercised three days every week for 12 weeks. The effects of exercise time on body composition and dietary intake were compared. The exercise time was from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for the forenoon group and was from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the afternoon group. It was measured just before and after the subjects exercised. The average and the standard deviation were produced for each measure item. It was verified with Independent Samples t-test between the forenoon group and the afternoon group with SPSS 11.0 package. The comparison of the pre- and the post inside groups operated with Paired Samples t-test. The attention level was a =.05, the results were like belows;
1. The weight between the forenoon group and the afternoon group were not significantly different from each other. However, there was a significant difference in the forenoon group, itself(p<.001).
2. The body-fat rate between the forenoon group and the afternoon group were not significantly different from each other(p<.05), but there was a significant difference in the forenoon group, itself(p<.05).
3. The difference of the body-water rates between the forenoon group and the afternoon group was not significant.(p>.05).
4. The difference of the daily intake amount between the forenoon group and the afternoon group was not significant. However, there was significant difference in the afternoon group. itself(p<.05).
In conclusion, the effect of exercise time on body composition was not significant except for the body-fat rate. Thus, to help a person select appropriate exercise time, it is considerable to recommend various exercise event operations.
