Gasin in China has different functions, tells originated tales, and receives regular or irregular memorial services as it does in Korea. In China, however, it does not have diverse kinds while so does it in Korea. It is because there are other gods functioning as Gasin in village cemeteries, and Taoist or Buddhist shrines.
One of the most significant differences of Gasin in Korea and China is whether it has physical body. Chinese Gasin has been manifested in forms of different paintings, while Korean ones has ‘Geongung’ form which does not physical body, apart from Jowang god in buddhist temples. It is true that there were some Gate gods with its body in the past, these gods became intangible as people began personifying them as gods, kings, Daegam, generals, grandfathers, and grandmothers.
The people who serve gods, are usually women, mostly housewives in Korea, while both men and women involve in serving them in China. Also in the last, only men could participate in the ritual ceremonies for Jowang god. The reason why Korean Gasin has a strong relation with women is an idea that Anchae which is a place where women usually resided in the past, was a living space where human bodies sit on.
Finally the Chinese has particular sense on Munsin and Jaemulsin amongst Gasin gods by giving them regular rituals, the Koreans does on Seongju amoungst different Gasin gods.
