Human activity has affected climate change of the earth enormously, consequently threatening the ecosystem of the earth and human life. In order to address such threats it is required that students are educated not only to recognize the main causes of climate change and its impacts, but also to act properly to mitigate climate change. The purpose of this research is to develop a climate change education program for high school students, based on learner centered activities. To do this, firstly, a comparative analysis of life science topics in high school curriculum dealing with energy and climate change is conducted between the next-generation science standards (NGSS) of the United States, and the 2009 and 2015 revised curriculum of the South Korea. Secondly, based on the analysis, an educational program for life science is developed to raise awareness of the high school students with regards to climate change. The program developed will encourage students to improve their recognition to climate change and to take an active approach towards addressingclimatechange.
