Social media has been diffused in a variety of fields and is bringing changes in life, both technically and culturally. In particular, adolescents are experiencing a serious problem of dysfunction rather than the positive function of social media in unprotected exposure. Therefore, it is important to identify social media literacy so that adolescents can use social media properly. In this study, we will identify the social media literacy competencies for adolescents and develop concrete action indicators. To this end, we developed the draft social media literacy competency model through literature analysis. In order to validate the draft competency model, we conducted three times Delphi surveys to competency experts, adolescent experts, and media experts. The second and third Delphi surveys were revised based on the statistical analysis and content analysis. Finally, the social media literacy competency model for adolescents was finally revised and completed. The social media literacy competency model consists of a total of 9 competencies and 22 behavior indicators. The socio-cognitive domain of the competency model includes creative organization, participatory self-expression, self-management, and media discrimination. The socio-cultural domain includes netiquette compliance and productive network. The socio-technological domain includes understanding and utilization of social media, device construction, and information security. Some implications are suggested based on the results of the study.
