The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of regular swimming exercise on body composition, respiratory capacity and serum lipid & enzymes level in middle aged women Sixty middle aged womens were studied: week-3time group(20), week-5time group(20), general group(20). Age range is 30-40. The underwent bicycle ergometer exercise. Blood samples were obtained at rest for analyzing serum lipids(T.C, T.G, HDL-C) & enzymes(LDH, CPK). Body composition test was analyzer to %Fat, FBW, LBW, body fluid by biodynamic. Heart rate(HR) and systolic blood pressure(SBP) were measured at test and every two minutes during exercise. MVO_2 was calculated by the product of HR and SBP. This data was analyzed by one-way ANOVA between each groups. The conclusion of the study was as follows 1. No Significant differences were found between each group on body weight, persent body fat, and fat body weight. 2. No Significant differences were found between each group at resting heart rate and systolic blood pressure, but these parameters were significant differences by each group after exersise(P<0.01). 3. No Significant differences were found between each group at resting MVO2, but MVO_2 & VO_2max after exercise were significant differences by each group(P<0.01). 4. Total cholesterol, triglycerides, total cholesterol/HDL-C rate were significantly reduced(P<0.01) by week-5time group, and HDL-C level were significantly increased (P<0.01) during swimming exercise programs, 5. No Significant differences were found between each group at resting serum LDH level, but resting serum CPK level were significant increased (P<0.01) by week-5time group during swimming exersise. Especially, when week-5time group is to do with exercise of the same and intensity, they lowest in the SBP, HR, MVO_2, and serum lipids(T.C, T.G, T.C/HDL-C) & enzyme(CPK) level show the lowest and highest(incresed HDL-C) with respiratory capacity. The results of these parameters show improvement of the energy metabolism then other group(w-3time, general group). therfore, the exercise prescription of middle women is recommended to do siwimming exercise of a week 3-4time consider cardiovascula & respiratory capacity.
