This study is to criticize the characteristics of the outline part of 2015 revised moral education curriculum and to suggest an alternative in the light of its strength and weaknesses. For this purpose, the study inquired the five themes of ① discussion of character education, ② discussion of competency-centered curriculum, ③ discussion of democratic civic education, ④ discussion of doing ethics, ⑤ components of curriculum and selection of educational content. Through each discussion, this study suggested contents to be supplemented about each theme. At the same time, it suggested an alternative and new issues for moral education curriculum development in the future. The researchers for moral education curriculum development in the future will have to discuss deeply the five themes mentioned above and the new issues by examining the results of this study because these five themes and its relevant issues are very significant issues in developing our national moral education curriculum.
