This thesis starts from the perspective in which the matter of life and death is one. The answer to the efforts for finding the truth of existence after death is remote. Thus, this thesis aims to find an easier method to approach the matter of life and death. Based on the idea of easily delivering difficult doctrines or thoughts of Buddhism through films, this thesis selected several wellknown Buddhist films, and then reviewed the Buddhist perception of death shown in them. The modern Buddhism could save the public by spreading the truth of enlightenment through cultural contents like films. Summarizing the popular perception of death shown in Buddhist films, first, the matter of death is described as something very close to a specific religion which is Buddhism. Second, the view of death represented in Korean Buddhist films is close to the Western attitude toward death. Third, the death is represented as something awe-inspiring and transcendent. Fourth, the death is appearing as an existential condition for validating Buddhist films as genre films.
