Today, convergence is taking place in various fields of culture and society, including art, education, and academic fields, as well as industry and technology. This expansion of convergence and social interest seem to be emphasized in education, and the paradigm is transformed in a different context from understanding-oriented education in the academic field, such as convergence of studies and areas and strengthening competencies. In addition, for convergence education, which deals with the power of art that qualitatively enrich human life from an interdisciplinary perspective, the curriculum must be further developed in terms of subject education to explore art-centered convergence education, and an overall review of the current convergence education is needed. In particular, further exploration of theory and design for the realization of specific art and curriculum should be conducted. To this end, first, convergence education and its method from a theoretical perspective are examined. Second, the nature and significance of art-centered convergence education are sought in terms of art and philosophy. Third, we examine the design and principles in terms of methods for art-centered convergence education and discuss the direction. There is the significance of art-oriented convergence education as an aesthetic education through art, the awareness of oneself coexisting with others in the community, the discovery through art as a visual image. Based on the practice of linking to life in class, it is possible to examine the structure, principle, method, and direction of convergence education from the perspective of art education, and basic research to explore the characteristics, principles, and structures of art education as convergence education is continuously needed.

오늘날 융합은 예술과 교육, 학문 분야를 비롯하여 산업, 기술 등 문화와 사회의 다양한 분야에서 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 융합의 확대 및 사회적 관심은 교육에서도 학문과 영역의 융합과 이를 통한 역량 강화 등 학문 영역의 이해중심 교육과는 다른 맥락에서 패러다임의 전환을 보이고 있다. 국가 교육과정이나 수업 설계 역시, 필수적으로 학습해야 할 지식과 함께 융합적 역량의 강화가 요구되고 있는데 삶으로 연결되는 과제를 학제적 관점으로 다루는 융합교육의 본연을 위해서는 현재의 융합교육에 대한 전반적인 재검토와 함께 예술을 통한 질적 삶으로서 교과 교육의 측면에서 미술과 중심의 융합교육에 대한 탐색이 이루어져야 한다. 특히 구체적인 미술과 교육과정 구현을 위한 이론과 설계에 대한 탐색이 더욱 이루어져야 한다. 이를 위해 여기서는 첫째, 이론적 관점에서 융합교육과 그 방법을 살펴본다. 둘째, 미술 중심의 융합교육의 성격과 의의를 예술과 철학적 측면에서 모색한다. 셋째, 미술 중심의 융합교육을 위한 방법적 측면에서 설계와 원리, 방향성을 살펴 본다. 재료와 매체의 체험을 통해 스스로를 의식하고, 공동체 안에서 타자와 공존하는 자기 자신을 인식하며, 시각 이미지로 서의 예술을 통한 발견, 상상력의 확장을 가능하게 하는 미술 자체의 융합적 속성 및 예술을 통한 심미적 교육에 미술 중심의 융합교육의 의의가 있다. 수업에서 삶으로 연계되며 나아가는 실천을 전제로 미술교육의 관점에서 융합교육의 가능성을 탐색할 수 있으며 융합교육으로서의 미술교육의 특성, 원리 및 구조를 탐구하는 기초 연구가 지속적으로 필요하다.
