The purpose of this paper is to investigate the dicourse of relationship between the concepts of art and education, which has established modern art education, and to suggest the new tasks of art education in the era of post-modern. I will analyse critically the facts of decline of art with the argument on ‘the end of art’, in order to show the horizon that plays the role to support the basis of art education. After the periods of deconstruction, reduction and end of art, there is emerging an enormous movement that tries to transform the circumstances of art. In this process, the qualitative value of art as educational media has been changed greatly, and the concept and the system of art education also changed. The main task of art education today is to reconstruct the curriculum from the hermeneutic horizon of the present through the expansion of art territory and the integration of various artistic utterances. It is difficult to take a free and impartial attitude to explain different and diverse artistic phenomena. Therefore, we required to have the subjectivity to construct a new curriculum and the awakening on historicity. Many people state on the future of human life and art linked with new media and technology under the idea of reoriented totality. Various issues in art, such as life and politics, sense and body, technology and environment, show our desire to recover the link with human being. Art education without practice is vacant. The art educational curriculum is a valuable device to facilitate the close relationship among society, children and art. Art education could be a good system to absorb the nourishment of life in the midst of end and new start of art, with the guide of critical statements.
