The purpose of this study was to identify the difference of children’s happiness and playfulness according to the Environmental Characteristics Change of a Classroom in Child Care Center. One classroom was changed based on Olds’(2001) Residential Core Model of the Second Home Child Care Center. Participants were 42 children who was 3 to 4 years of age. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, using paired t-test. The findings are summarized as follows: (1) There was a significant difference between before and after children’s happiness, according to the change of classroom. Children’s happiness was increased after change of a classroom. (2) There was a significant difference between before and after children’s playfulness, according to the change of a classroom. Children’s playfulness was increased, after change of a classroom.
In conclusion, if children live child care center and it is like home, children are happier and more playful. So, day care center teachers should plan and operate the environment of child care centers in consideration of the needs and developmental characteristics of who desire to children to live in a comfortable state like at home.
