The purpose of this study is to explore the elements of creativity that appeared in children"s play episodes in order to read the meaning of play in terms of creativity. The subjects of this study were 57 early childhood teachers majoring in early childhood education in the master"s course in G graduate school. In this study, teachers in the field collected play episodes as research data in order to examine how creativity appears in children"s play.
As a result of the study, the creativity that appeared in play episodes was largely found to be cognitive creativity and emotional creativity. Cognitive creativity showed creative problem solving, crossing the ambiguous boundaries between imagination and reality, using metaphors in moments of play, transforming the same object in various ways, and interpreting the experience in a unique way. In addition, emotional creativity showed showing curiosity, immersion, and thinking for others. For young children, play is what young children want to do the most, and it is an important channel for expressing their creative thinking and emotions, so in the early childhood education field, it is necessary to organize and operate a curriculum that emphasizes voluntary and initiative play.
