The ideal that Korean social studies education has pursued since World War II was the desirable realization of an integrated social studies curriculum. However, the conflict between the three social departments (sociology, history, geography) and the department including the ethics department has not been resolved over the content structure method of the social studies department of ‘department versus division’. The discussion of the integration of the social studies curriculum and the subdivision system can be divided into problems in the curriculum, problems in the school field, and problems in teacher training. In particular, in relation to the revision of the curriculum, it should be pointed out that teachers who are conducting social studies classes for students directly at school sites have been largely neglected. However, even under such circumstances, at least nominal (the government's will and direction to revise the curriculum) or formal (the cause of integration of the social studies department for cultivating desirable democratic citizens) efforts have been aimed at an integrated social studies department. In this article, first, an overview of the issues and conflicts of the three social studies (general society, geography, and history) surrounding social studies education so far has been reviewed. Second, Key issues were identified in the curriculum development process of high school .Third, I identified the practical problems that are appearing in the implementation process of the high school . Fourth, improvement measures were suggested in the major teacher training and teacher training program operation. Finally, what kind of policy alternatives are needed to implement the ideal of the curriculum through school education is presented.
