This study aimed to examine the predictors of childcare teacher interaction. In this study, the subjects were 455 children and their mothers and teachers who participated in the 2013 Panel Study on Korean Children (PSKC). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t and F-test, Pearson"s correlation and hierarchical regression were performed.
First, there was a significant difference in teacher interaction according to the age of teachers. The older teachers tended to show more positive interaction with children. Second, the effects of socio-demographic characteristics, physical environment of childcare centers, work conditions of teachers and parental participation were examined in several phases. Findings revealed the importance of several factors related to physical as well as work environment and parental participation. Parental participation was the most powerful factor that has an effect on childcare teacher-child interaction. Both the work environment of teachers and physical environment where the teachers spend most of their time with children, were related to the interaction between teachers and children.
